Women’s Backpacking Trip Cascades - The Great Wilderness

The Cascades are a series of 10 waterfalls in the heart of Monkman Provincial Park. Only accessible on foot or by fly over helicopter ride, the Cascades encapsulate the beauty of the rugged North. Along the trail you will see towering falls, thick, lush bush, high mountain peaks, lakes, marshes and more.

Hiking into the Cascades takes place on the Monkman Trail, which is relatively flat. Although flat, hikers may experience blow down that requires large step overs and crawl unders! Side trips to Moore Falls extends the trip just slightly.

Itinerary: Cascades
Meet in Tumbler Ridge for 8:30am. Check bags, safety debrief and load vehicle. Car pool to trailhead.
On the trail for 10am, with planned overnight stop at the half way point, Trot Camp. Trot camp has minimal facilities. Pit toilets and bear bins.
Day 1, 7-10km
Day 2, 10km
Day 3, 5-7km
Break Camp and continue on the trail. Stops at Moore Falls for lunch. Arrive at Shire Camp mid afternoon. Set up camp, have dinner and explore! Shire camp has tent pads, pit toilets and bear bins. Camping here is a visual treat!
Spend Day 3 exploring the Cascades or relaxing at Shire Camp.
Day 4, 21km
Break camp and trek home. Lunch and breaks along the way.

Tumbler Ridge sits along the NE Flanks of the Rocky Mountains. The nearest airports are Fort St. John, BC and Grande Prairie, AB. If you are flying in, ask up about pick-up.
